To Make Hokkaido Beautiful Like a Garden

To Make Hokkaido Beautiful Like a Garden

There are many garden lovers in Hokkaido. Over the years they have made beautiful gardens around Hokkaido. They are different from the traditional Japanese garden or gardens for urban design. They are the fruits of the efforts of the people involved in each garden, who sought to create gardens in harmony with the climate of Hokkaido. These efforts have been spreading as movements throughout Hokkaido, such as projects like Garden Island Hokkaido, and the Hokkaido Garden Path.

The Hokkaido Garden Show, which will be held in the Tokachi Millennium Forest, was started with a hope to accelerate these movements. The Garden Show Executive Committee intends that a second, third and more garden shows will follow the Hokkaido Garden Show, encouraging the growth of a rich garden culture in Hokkaido. The Hokkaido Garden Show consists of gardens of various styles and sizes, namely, four Theme Gardens, which the Tokachi Millennium Forest has cultivated for years, Designer Gardens by prominent garden designers, and seven Competition Gardens, which are small gardens in the forest that will be designed by the creative competition winners.

In addition, the Garden Market will have booths offering gardening goods, seeds, seedlings and local “Hokkaido” foods and drinks. Also, in order for a wide range of people to enjoy the gardens, we are planning to hold workshops where general garden lovers can gather, and the Garden Academy, where people can learn directly from professionals.

We hope that the Hokkaido Garden Show can be a place for people to think about the nature, agriculture, tourism, food culture and environment of Hokkaido. Making full use of the grand and rich natural environment of Hokkaido, we will hold a garden show for garden fans from around the world to visit. We hope that those visitors will bring something back from the Hokkaido Garden Show to the World.
